Company Profile: Schneider Electric Energy Performance Contracting
What is energy performance contracting?
Energy performance contracting is an innovative funding method in which an energy service company (ESCO) partners with clients to take on a long-term project that tackles maintenance backlogs and facility improvements with energy efficient solutions, using the energy savings generated to pay for the larger project scope.
Once an ESCO performs an energy audit, they make recommendations on where and how to improve operational and energy efficiency. The projected energy savings are guaranteed by the ESCO for the length of the project and the funds can be applied to further infrastructure updates, implementing state-of-the-art technology, and enriching the lives of those who live, work, learn, and play in the community.
Schneider Electric is an ESCO committed to helping schools, universities, military installations, and municipalities reach big ambitions through energy savings performance contracts (ESPC).
These types projects offer many long-term benefits such as improved facility efficiency, occupant comfort, sustainability, financial management and environmental protection. Over the past 26 years, Schneider Electric has successfully implemented more than 750 ESPC projects across the nation, saving clients more than $2.5 billion.
Three phases of an ESPC
Development – Schneider Electric partners with subject matter experts for design and engineering of projects
Implementation – Schneider Electric seeks trusted subcontracting partners to install the recommended energy conservation measures (ECMs) associated with the ESPC
Performance – Schneider Electric seeks subcontracting partners for long-term OMR&R (operations, maintenance, repair, and replacement) of installed systems and equipment for the life of the performance period. (upwards of 20+ years)
