Training Event Description

For every business, no matter your location, there is an entire economic development support system operating around you. This session will explore how to identify and access the resources available in your specific region and sector.

  • An overview of programs like the Manufacturing Extension Partner (MEP) network and the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center
  • Understanding the differences between and how to work with local and regional economic development corporations, economic development departments, chambers of commerce, state and local representatives.
  • Sourcing programs and grants related to prize opportunities, research awards, and the Texas Workforce Commission Skills Development Fund.

This training will not be a review of every resource, but an exercise in how to find or access resources and capitalize on opportunities. If time permits, the training expert will perform live walkthroughs identifying several attendees’ economic development support systems.
