The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 directed the Small Business Administration (SBA) to create a Governmentwide certification program for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses. Hospital Cancer Registry Systems

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) seeks to acquire information from Contractors with capability and expertise in providing software to support our hospital-based cancer registries. This notice should not be construed (1) as a commitment by the Department of Veterans Affairs to enter into an agreement with any entity participating.

Scope: The objective is to conduct market research and acquire information for a future hospital-based cancer registry solicitation. Any detailed requirements and instructions will be provided through a formal solicitation.

 

  1. Support for case ascertainment process that would interface with existing VA electronic health record system and with Cerner EHR. 
  2. The system would have the ability to identify potential cancer cases and auto populate selected data fields into cancer registry. 
  3. The system will comply with the national standards for cancer reporting and provide software that is regularly updated to reflect changes in reporting standards. 
  4. The system will support the ability to collect customized data elements that are specific to the VA. 
  5. The system will provide functionality to support the surveillance and follow-up of VA cancer patients
  6. The system will support the export of cancer cases to state and national registries
  7. The system will provide report generating capabilities that will allow the user to analyze the cancer data on the patient, cancer type, hospital or national level.
